Atherton Place in Marietta – Round 2

Less than 10 months later, I returned to Atherton Place on 8/27/2020 to perform for the residents, who were understandably cranky from months of seclusion during this COVID-19 pandemic. The crowd was very gracious, and I had the opportunity to present each composition I performed and even speak about my background. I performed two 30 minute sets, and the weather seemed to cool down as I played! Thank you again to Elizabeth Grimes for this wonderful opportunity. Performing at these residences has been one of the most fulfilling experiences in my lifetime.

No Mas! Cantina

This past Thursday, March 5, 2015, I performed a gig at No Mas! Cantina – “The Best of Mexico.” I look forward to performing there every Thursday evening. I will perform many Spanish and Latin American selections – composers in particular include Francisco Tárrega, Isaac Albéniz, and Jorge Morel. I will be performing every Thursday from 6-10pm. Come check out this beautiful restaurant.

Ort Atlanta Performance – 6/12

Ort Pic

I had the privilege to perform at the beautiful ORT Atlanta Leadership Event last Thursday in Buckhead, Georgia. I played for around two hours on my Alhambra guitar. There was a crowd of around 100 people there. One thing I learned from this performance, my second with an amplifier, is to constantly be aware of the crowd noise and to adjust the amp volume accordingly. I began the evening with the master volume around at around 70% but found myself increasing it slightly after each piece performed; eventually I had the volume at full and it never seemed overbearing compared to the crowd noise. Microphone placement in front of the guitar is crucial. At an event with this many people, I’d tap the microphone occasionally just to make sure the sound was in fact projecting from the amplifier. I will put this newly acquired knowledge to use for the next gig. Above is a picture taken by the photographer of me performing.
